Programs & Sessions

What's the difference between Balance Track and Pedal Power?

Balance Track is designed for ages 3–5 who have never ridden before. We remove the pedals entirely and focus on balance, gliding, steering, and braking — the true foundation of riding. Pedal Power is for ages 6–9 who are ready to pedal. We start from scratch with seated pedaling and build through stops, turns, and trail etiquette.

What if my 6-year-old has never ridden before?

Start with Balance Track. Age is a starting point, not a rule. If your child has never ridden, the balance foundation is critical regardless of age. Once they complete Balance Track milestones, we'll move them into Pedal Power — sometimes within the same season.

How long is each session?

Each session is 45 minutes. Four sessions make up a complete program track. Sessions are typically scheduled once per week.

How many kids are in each group?

We cap every group at 6 students per instructor. Small groups mean your child gets real attention and real feedback — not a crowd experience.

What happens if my child misses a session?

We'll do our best to accommodate a make-up session. Contact us as early as possible and we'll find a compatible group at the same milestone stage. Missed sessions without notice can't always be made up.

Do you offer private lessons?

Not at this time. Our small-group format (max 6 students) is intentional — kids learn faster when they see peers working through the same challenges. We may offer private options in the future.

Booking & Payment

How much does a program cost?

Each 4-session program track is $149 per child. That includes all four sessions, helmet and gear fitting at Session 1, milestone tracking, and a completion certificate.

Can I book for multiple children?

Yes. Each child needs their own booking, but you can complete multiple bookings under one parent account. You can also enroll siblings in different tracks — for example, a 4-year-old in Balance Track and a 7-year-old in Pedal Power.

What is your refund policy?

Full refunds are available up to 48 hours before the first session. After that, we offer a credit toward a future program. No refunds are issued once the program has begun.

Is payment secure?

Yes. All payments are processed through Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. We never store your card details on our servers.

What to Bring

Do I need to bring a bike?

Yes, please bring your child's own bike. For Balance Track, we'll remove the pedals at Session 1 (bring a pedal wrench if you have one — we'll have tools on site). For Pedal Power, bring the bike as-is with pedals attached.

What gear is required?

A properly fitting helmet is required for every session — no exceptions. Elbow and knee pads are strongly recommended and required for Balance Track students. Closed-toe shoes are required. Sandals, flip-flops, and Crocs are not allowed.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable athletic clothing they can move freely in. Long pants or leggings are recommended to protect knees during learning falls. Avoid loose clothing that could catch on the bike.

Progress & Milestones

How do I know how my child is progressing?

Parents receive a milestone update after every session through your dashboard. Each session has a defined milestone goal, so you always know exactly where your child stands and what's coming next.

What if my child doesn't complete all milestones?

Kids progress at their own pace. If a child needs more time on a milestone, we work with them — we don't rush progress to fit a schedule. In some cases, we'll recommend repeating specific sessions at no additional charge.

What does the completion certificate mean?

The certificate marks that your child demonstrated all four session milestones in a final ride. For Balance Track graduates, it signals readiness for Pedal Power. For Pedal Power graduates, it means your child is trail-ready.

Safety & Instructors

Are your instructors background-checked?

Yes. Every Ride Ready instructor passes a full background check before their first session. All instructors are also first-aid certified and trained in child-safe instruction techniques.

What's your instructor-to-student ratio?

Maximum 6 students per instructor. In practice, many sessions run smaller.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions are held at designated outdoor locations — parks, paved paths, and beginner trail networks depending on the program track. Location details are confirmed in your booking confirmation email.

What happens in bad weather?

Sessions may be rescheduled due to rain, lightning, or extreme heat. We'll notify you via email and text as early as possible and offer make-up dates. Safety is non-negotiable.

Privacy & Data

How do you handle my child's information?

We take children's privacy seriously. Ride Ready is built in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We collect only the information needed to deliver the program: parent/guardian contact details, the child's first name, age group, and program milestones. We do not collect detailed personal information about children and we do not share child data with third parties for advertising or analytics purposes.

Do you use tracking or advertising on pages that reference my child's data?

No. Pages that display student information (your parent dashboard, milestone reports) are completely free of third-party tracking pixels and ad networks. Your child's data is not used for advertising.

How is my account data stored?

Your account and booking data is stored on encrypted servers in compliance with industry security standards. Payments are processed by Stripe and card data never touches our servers. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Who can I contact about privacy concerns?

Email us at privacy@rideready.com for any questions about how we handle your or your child's data. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
